ASBESTOS ABATEMENT/ CONCRETE DEMOLITON
Whittier Fire Hall Concrete Demolition , Whittier, Alaska

The Old Whittier Fire Hall included a 6,400 sq. ft. primary building built in 1952. The building was used by the DOD as a firehouse from 1952 to 1967. In 2005, a majority of the asbestos-containing materials (ACM) and lead-based paint (LBP) was abated. Some minor amounts of ACM and LBP remained in the structure.
The scope of work for this project included the following:
- Abate loose Lead-Based Paint (LBP) chips and remaining Cement Asbestos Board (CAB)
- Demolition of Structure
- Removal of LBP-impacted soil at building perimeter
- Recycle LBP-Concrete
- Dispose/recycle demolition debris
- Dispose of ACM and LBP-Wastes
- Site Restoration
